Did you know you can buy a web address with the dot-Info extension (.Info) for 89¢ on GoDaddy? (Actually, there is an additional ICANN fee of 18¢ per domain year, or 89¢ + 18¢ = $1.07 per year.) About a buck for a domain. How cool is that!

The dot-Info extension makes perfect sense for domains to your property websites: 123MainStreet.info. (One of the best property website services is AgencyLogic. Free listing syndication is included.)

Top Rainmaker real estate agents often buy the domain before their listing presentation. Before the ink is dry on the listing agreement, Rainmaker real estate agents publish a property website with photos of the home. Once the property sells, they give the domain to the new buyers (if they represent them or not). Some Rainmakers use the domain to link to a virtual tour/property photos and description on a one-page site at AnnounceMyMove to spread the word to the buyer’s sphere of friends and family.

Recently we’ve seen more and more Rainmakers use listing syndication services to leverage their listings into more business.

What is listing syndication?

Listing syndication is a service where your listing is distributed to multiple Internet portal websites that feature listing databases.

Aggregator portals often include: craigslist, Facebook, FrontDoor, Google Base, Hotpads, Myspace, Oodle, Trulia, Twitter, Vast, Zillow, etc., etc. Not only is syndication a great time saver, but by including calls-to-action you can increase your lead generation substantially.

There are many syndication services out there, including: BrokerFeeds.com; ClassifiedFlyerAds.com; Edgeio.com; Postlets.com; PostYourListings.com; Realbird.com; Reallyo.com; Syndafeed.com; vFlyer.com, among others. (Ryan Shaughnessy, a broker/attorney with PREA Signature Realty in St. Louis, Missouri posted a particularly useful overview on his ActiveRain blog on 9/30/2008.)

The other day I admired several Florida listings on craigslist placed there using Postlets by Carol Stewart of Gasparilla Properties. The listings are graphically very pleasing, easy to navigate and decidedly make the properties stand out dramatically better than the other simple text or do-it-yourself displays on craigslist.

Share your experience.

I’d be interested to hear your experience with listing syndication. How easy is it to use? What do you pay for the service? What are the pros and cons of the technique?
