Blogs are a popular place to educate home buyers and sellers, gain their trust and start conversations that can lead to more business. Keeping up your blog means regular posts which sometimes can take a little more work and planning. If you ever need some inspiration for your blog, be sure to check back here every Sunday for one buyer topic and one seller topic to break your writer’s block. Check out our blog archive for even more more ideas.

Sellers topic for your blog:

Help sellers make sure their home will appeal to the widest audience of buyers. Encourage them to do the usual decluttering and staging, but also to bring back rooms to their intended purpose. If they’ve converted the living room into a playroom for the kids, provide sellers the insight to bring back in traditional furniture for the living room. If the sellers have a bedroom dedicated to one pet (say a “cat room” or “ferret room”) have then consider toning down the pet focus and make the room more generic, getting back at it’s bedroom use. The bottom line to sellers is that they’ll get an offer faster (and perhaps get a better price) when their home is more in line with what the majority of buyers are looking for.

Buyers topic for your blog:

Encourage buyers to look at what they need in a home in terms of space — bedrooms, baths, living areas — but to go a step further and see how the location fits their needs. Remind buyers that calculating the distance (and gas cost) to workplace(s), shopping, schools and attractions should also be considered when weighing the choice between homes. Outline a checklist that buyers can use to help them keep their house search on target.
