Making Time for Marketing

In our always-on society, it can be hard to sit back, reflect and plan your marketing.  Here are a few tips to get your focus on marketing in little ways you may often neglect.

Turn It Off

Every once in a while, take a short period of time (an hour here or there) to turn off email, phone, texting and web access.  During this time, make an appointment with yourself to work only on marketing activities with no outside distractions.  Your business will benefit for it.

Focused Time

To effectively read up on marketing ideas, case studies, blogs about marketing and new research you need to stay focused and not be tempted to keep clicking along, taking you on an unrelated tangent.  Dedicate time specifically to marketing reading.  When you’re reading, if you’re distracted by another link, bookmark it to read later under an appropriate topic.

Organization

Paper files obviously benefit you when they’re filed away neatly and you can find what you need fast.  An organized computer will save you time and money too.  Set aside time every so often to clear out both paper and electronic files, reorganize and print out what is necessary related to your marketing activities.

Sometimes it’s the obvious and simple ideas that can get your marketing an extra boost it needs.  Making time for little tasks can often be forgotten.
