Last month, Hitwise, an online research firm, reported that online searches of one word are the most common, compromising almost 25% of all searches. Searches of eight or more words increased 1% in the October to November 2009 time period. All other number of search words (two through seven words) remained flat during the same period.
What does that mean for your web presence visibility? Obviously, searching a town name (Chicago, Seattle, Denver, etc.) alone will not get searchers any info quickly or easily on real estate available in those areas.
However, take a look closely at the eight words or more search term increase. Internet searchers are likely being very specific to find exactly what they are looking for:
Anytown, California East Brookline Subdivision Real Estate for sale
is an example of this formula: city, state, neighborhood/subdivision name, real estate for sale
which gives you at least eight words and is very specific, very targeted.
Can visitors searching on a string so targeted find your web site or your social media profile? Think about how you can be found online with very targeted search terms.
Let us know how you come up on localized searches with a specific search string using eight or more words. Local is where it’s at!
