On Saturday I touched upon the statistic that over 2/3 of real estate agents in 2003 had websites. And, today, you might be planning a website makeover – or even makeover phase 2 or 3 or more of your original website. Experience shows there are many important questions to answer first so you can talk to your web designer to get what you want and develop a website built to generate leads – or improve your site to generate more leads.
How much are you willing to spend? How much can you afford?
As you may know, first-year costs will include initial design, operating expenses (hosting), and site maintenance. There are four ballpark categories for budgeting:
- Personal websites
- Under $1,000 for first year
- $1,000 to $2,500 for first year
- Custom websites:
- $2,500 to $5,000 for first year
- $5,000 and over for first year
By establishing your budget first you’ll avoid the eyes-too-big-for-your-wallet syndrome and get a website you can afford to live with.
First figure out what your budget limitations are before starting out on your website redesign.
Let us know of your first-hand experience with website redesigns. What tips and advice can you share?
